Reviewing my GAME plan

What resources will you need to carry out your plan?

In reviewing my GAME plan I believe that, for me, the best resources are my colleagues, classmates and my supervisor. I am the type of person who works well when I am discussing, brainstorming and researching ideas and concepts with others. I am confident that if I were to reach out to my colleagues, classmates and my supervisor that they will all point me in the right direction of further resources and/or provide me with suggestions to successfully carry out my GAME plan.

What additional information do you need?

The area in which I will need additional information in is the monitoring process of my plan. I need to learn what would be the most effective and accurate way to monitor my student’s progress within each unit.

What steps have you been able to take so far?

On Wednesday, I will be attending a PLC meeting held by my supervisor. The purpose of the meeting is to brainstorm potential topics for next school year. My plan is to introduce my topic and try to refine my ideas for the PLC. My hope is to find a group of colleagues to work with a similar topic.

  1. Do you have any colleagues in particular that you know of who would have some experience or knowledge in the area of using technology to monitor student progress? I know I tend to be the one in my school seeking out and exploring new options before anyone else. This makes it difficult to build a community of like-minded teachers who are in support of expanding the use of technology outside of Google searches and web quests.

I, personally, have been looking into asking my school to purchase student response clickers. This will enable me to instantly record student knowledge and modify lessons based on student understanding. I have seen these used very effectively where the teacher has two basic plans prepared, one if the students understand the previous day’s work/concepts, and another that is set up to review the information students may be struggling or still have misconceptions about. I am interested in what you think of these Clickers or Personal Response Systems (PRS).

  2. Chris,

In my experience, I have had a lot of luck with one particular person in the tech department. He's wonderful and so very helpful. Also, the media specialist in my school sends out weekly tech advise/news for teachers to try out and be informed about. Lastly, my supervisor also tends stay up-to-date on the latest tech tools and is very supportive in helping our department in using technology in the classroom.

I've found that my colleagues in my departments are a bit antiquated and do not like explore much in the tech category. Therefore, I am forced to venture out of my little World Language bubble to find out what others are doing!

    Hope this helps.
